CLOTHES MAKE THE … CHIROPRACTOR?

A recent study by Leduc in January 2025 concluded that what we chiropractors wear influences our patients’ perception of us, including your Williamson chiropractor at Apple Country Chiropractic. Noted! Scrubs make us look more knowledgeable, trustworthy, competent, professional and comfortable. White coats and formal wear came in second place. For women chiropractors, the white coat was more positive for them than when worn by men. (1) Interestingly, this clothing issue doesn’t concern only chiropractors. A study done in Saudi Arabia on patient perceptions of surgeons based on their attire found that patients preferred scrubs and white coats. These preferences were attributed to perceived hygiene as well as the image of dedication and expertise conveyed by such attire. (2) Beyond their attire, chiropractors are working to refine their professional identity to better interact other healthcare colleagues who – according to other articles like the surgeon attire article – also work to refine their image and identity for their patients and collegial interactions. (3) One paper boldly ended with that “although the chiropractic profession may debate internally about its professional identity, the chiropractic identity seems to have already been established by society, practice, legislation, and education as a profession of health care providers whose area of expertise is spine care.” (4) Starting with spine care works for Apple Country Chiropractic! We know through experience that spine pain relief leads to our patients’ trusting us with other health issues. Bring on your Williamson back pain and neck pain! We’ll wear our best scrubs, clothes and/or white coats! Together,  let’s, you and Apple Country Chiropractic, work on getting you feeling better!

Listen to this PODCAST with Dr. Benjamin Fonke on The Back Doctors Podcast with Dr. Michael Johnson about the addition of exercise and The Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management to reduce chronic low back pain.

TIP OF THE MONTH: Exercise for just 10 minutes!

Have back pain? Don’t like to exercise? Apple Country Chiropractic gets it! What if we shared that you just 10 minutes can help? When you are hurting, 10 minutes maybe tempting! A recent study reported that a short 10 minutes, easy-to-perform core stabilization exercise produced significant low back pain relief for chronic low back pain patients. (5) How about that? Effective. Immediate. Non-drug. Ready to try? Let’s talk at your next Williamson chiropractic appointment.
